Darth Vader is one of the most popular and interesting villains in all of fiction, and while he may be long dead within the current Star Wars trilogy, other parts of the Star Wars franchise are still telling his story. One of those places is the Darth Vader comic book from Marvel, and it has now been revealed that the next comic arc will focus on how the Dark Lord of the Sith came by the home we first saw in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Comic writer Charles Soule revealed the information via Twitter that the Fortress Vader arc will focus on the structure that Vader had constructed for himself on Mustafar, the same planet where Anakin Skywalker received the injuries that forced him inside a massive technological suit or armor.
We know little specifically about the castle itself, though the Star Wars website does state that Vader had the structure built himself, as opposed to him taking over an existing building. As such, it's likely the Darth Vader comic will deal with the reasons behind Vader's decision to have the castle built, and the process by which it actually happened. That process probably involved conscripting laborers from all over the galaxy. Somehow, I doubt the Empire supported unions and an open bid process.
Within the official Star Wars canon, we first saw the castle in the first spinoff film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Orson Krennic, the director of the Death Star project, travels there to meet with Darth Vader to discuss the Death Star project.
The location of the castle on Mustafar has already been seen in other Darth Vader comics. There is a Sith cave on the planet Mustafar which contains Dark Side Force energy. Vader used the energy in the formation of his lightsaber in the comics, and his castle would eventually be constructed above the cave.
It will be interesting to see what new details we learn about Darth Vader or the Dark Side of the Force over the course of the new comic arc. Certainly, Darth Vader needs a place to hang his...helmet, but building an elaborate castle out of obsidian isn't something you do on a whim. There almost certainly had to be some larger purpose to constructing that sort of a building in that sort of a place, beyond the obvious self-torment that Vader put himself through by building his new home on the same planet where he very nearly died.
Star Wars fans will want to pick up the Fortress Vader arc if they're looking to get the most complete picture of Darth Vader possible. At this point, we have no confirmed plans to see the character again on film, though there is always a possibility he could show up in Solo: A Star Wars Story when it arrives at the end of the month.

It's highly doubtful that the Russo Brothers, and their Avengers: Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, have written an intermission into the tale that will be told on the big screen this April. So including one randomly, without any particular story reason, just doesn't feel like a good idea.
