These days, it is not uncommon to see franchises and properties cross over with one another. The Marvel Cinematic Universe introduced a brave new world of franchise melding, and it looks like other series want to get in on the action. In fact, during a recent interview with Broken Lizard to discuss the release of Super Troopers 2, CinemaBlend learned that the guys behind the comedy sequel want to get Chris Evans to bring Captain America to the world of the Vermont State Troopers. Broken Lizard told us:
Erik Stolhanske: We talked about Captain America today, right?Jay Chandrasekhar: Well we've talked about Super Troopers 3 being called Super Troopers 3: Winter Soldiers. Since Chris Evans is retiring as Captain America, and he already has the mustache.Erik Stolhanske: He'd be a perfect fit.Jay Chandrasekhar: Could be a nice crossover.
There's a clear undercurrent of sarcasm to these remarks, but it's hard not to be intrigued by the possibility of Captain America (or at least Chris Evans) showing up for a third movie. Elsewhere in our conversation with Broken Lizard, they similarly talked about doing a third Super Troopers movie in which they go after classic movie villains like Jack Nicholson's Joker and Star Wars' Jabba the Hutt, so there's a case to be made that they've thought about how far they can stretch the limits of reality in the Super Troopers franchise. Bringing Cap into the fray could be perfect; they would just need to watch their language around him.
It's also worth mentioning that Chris Evans actually could make for a solid addition to the roster for a potential Super Troopers sequel -- or Potfest, if that long-awaited Beerfest follow-up finally happens. Though Evans has spent the bulk of the last decade working in serious roles like Captain America, he also notably cut his teeth in lighthearted romps like Not Another Teen Movie, 2005's Fantastic Four, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. If he shaves that somber Nomad beard into a mustache, then he could conceivably slide right into the world created by Broken Lizard.
For now, we will have to see what happens with Super Troopers 2. The film is decidedly more grounded than anything that would feature Captain America, and it sees these fan-favorite fictional cops head to a contested stretch of the border between the United States and Canada to deliver their own brand of justice. The film took almost two decades to make it to the big screen (even using a Kickstarter campaign to generate a portion of its budget), but a successful theatrical run could go a long way towards getting development started on another Super Troopers movie.

The estimated DVD release date is August 2019. The movie has been out for around since its theatrical release. DVD and Blu-ray releases typically come out 12-16 weeks after the theatrical premiere. Digital HD from Amazon Video and iTunes will be available 1-2 weeks before the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K releases - sometime in August 2019.
